The wow interface is fully programmable. It is based off the Lua programming language -- C-like, but not.

You can do some pretty cool things with it, not sure what will be included in the final release, but Blizzard is willing to play with ideas at-the-moment. Limitations right now are a) no access to the file system. b) application storage is kinda cludgy through string storage that teh WoW client manages, limited to 255 characters. c) the flexibility of the UI makes it harder to integrate multiple customizations into your UI, already there are people that just do this for the available scripts. d) it's against their policy to modify the game mechanics through exernal tools (mouse-clicks, key-presses, etc).

Some current script examples include:
Autocasting - cast spells on players in your party on events (buff wears off, low health)
TimedCasting - cast spell every n seconds (great for find herbs and find ore)
KillLog = Track how many of each monster type you have killed and how many times its killed you.
QuestShare - track your party memebers progress on quests, see which quests you have in common. Publish your quest list to a chat channel.

The UI isn't as rich as the EQ UI yet (loadable text files, notes, multiple-text windows) but once features like that are in the client -- and programmable... Your looking at a sweet-ass UI.

There seems to be a new MMORPG coming out every 3 months or so these days. Some look more promising than others and all that shit but me.......... Im gonna hold out for EQ2 =) fancy interface or not.

Yeah, Im excited about EQ2. More fantastic Sony CS, and hard-earned items that rot as soon as I put them on. Not to mention the Pentium 6 18ghz thats required to run it smoothly in a group. Where do I sign up?

They've changed the item degradation. Items only degrade on death, however they can be field repaired to original condition. I was skeptical at first, but the changes that they've made and some of the ideas that they're implementing are pretty interesting. I haven't looked at the system requirements lately, but I don't think they're as steep as they originally forecasted either. /shrug

when eq came out it was one of a kind. now there's many choices. hell people still play ultima online i think. anyway because there's other choices we are free to choose a game we like. and after seeing this screen shot.

i can honestly say i dont like the new models. and i can almost garuntee i wont like the new animations, and i can also garuntee i wont like dark elfs, i mean look at that guy...what the fuck. i dont want to make the mistake of being a ranger again after what they did to the normal eq ranger god. most worthless class besides beast lords. the spells are good, but both classes are worthless.
