Does a 4 cycle Honda 5.5hp lawn mower engine have a fuel filter? Damn thing won't run and acts like it isnt getting fuel. It will diesel along if I put some gas in the air intake til it burns it all then it dies so I know nothing's mechanically wrong with the top end of the engine...oddly the plug was oil fouled too but that's from sitting all winter. yes i'm too lazy to winterize
It could be the screen to keep crap out of the line is clogged up you can pull the fuel line to check the screens.

is it new gas or old? may need a oil/gas mixture (I work at Home Depot heh if this sounds weird coming from a female :P )
also check the filter and the spark plug.. most of the time its old gas, need the oil/gas mixture, fuel filter and/or new spark plug :D

4 Cycle motor uses Gas, Don't put an oil/fuel mixture into it : P. Crazy home depot girl!!!
Could be the spark plug like she said, can try changing that.
Can check the metal screen to see if it's clogged, but there's really no fuel filter. There is normally some type of air filter on 4 cycles, but the motors can and will run without them. If you dropped fuel into the air intake (where the filter normally sits) and it starts, it's probably the next suggestion.
There is also usually some type of carb that changes the amount of air/fuel going into the motor. It's possible the carb is set to full lean, meaning not enough fuel is getting in the motor to start. Or too rich, too much fuel, not enough air. Try adjusting it the other way a few turns and see if that helps.

also check the governor spring, if its broken and left the governor back in the full choked position I doubt it would start

if the flux capacitor is old you might need a new one before you can go back to before you decided to be a tard and leave it all fucked up over the winter and remedy the mistake.

Honda R type...only gay people like Dephton would push that around the yard.
Anyways phew I'm covered in oil and gasoline smell but the damn thing works now. Changed the oil, cleaned the carb out, cleaned the fuel screen. I think the carb jet was stuck/clogged or something in the end but it works like new now which is surprising considering the minimal amount of normal maintainence it gets.
