Its funny, that how people used to worship those greek gods and stuff. what a bunch of fools, why didn't they read the bible and turn to christianity? oh right...anyway couple thousand years later everyone thinks of those belief as silly. course couple thousand years later maybe our current religions may be thought of the same way. but thats getting beside the point. onto the movie!
this was a great movie. everyone did a great job acting wise, but there's a couple things that the normal critics wont get into.
1. The camera is weird. it looks odd. it zooms in a few times at odd times makes it feel like i'm watching one of those old kungfu movies. but luckily its only a few times. that and right before the big battle, the shadows switch ALOT. first its like sun is right above and shadows are directly below everyone. then it cuts to the king, and shadow is on the right side, meaning sun is on the left of them. then it cuts right back to the people in the battlefield and the shadow is on the left. ok those are not the types of things i look at, but DAMN they could have at least tried to make it not so obvious.
2. the battles, quite large and computer generated, however after the battle is over where the heck did all the bodies go to?? LOTR had the same problem in those big battle scenes, the bodies dissapear. in normal combat back then you fought till you were exhausted then you fell, then people walked on you over you and there was a carpet of bodies, mountin of corpses which people were fighitng on. but here the bodies magically poof. and some of the batttles seem kind of odd, odd pauses and the hero's are being ignored during the combat while they slice through soldiers left and right. that and a day after the slaughtering the SAND is magicaly cleansed of blood, arrows, body parts etc.
3. way too many male ass shots. though i think you see half of a female nipple.
4. orlando bloom is a pussy in this movie! omfg. they should have got clay aitken to play the role. NOW that would be something. instead of fighting it out in a duel with the king of sparta, they coulda challange each other in a sing off. (you got served).
5. they sure spoke good english back then...i know i know i'm kidding, i know how we all hate reading.
6. the biggest of all, way too many love conflict things. war started by a woman, war almost lost by a woman, achellies(sp) dies because of...a woman! they sure were a bunch of misogynists.
but overall a great flick. brad pitt's combat scenes are intense and fast, though i wish they changed scenario's a few more times. 90% of the movie taking place outside of troy's gates is a little bland after awhile.
i know there's a few people that want to say this so i'll say it for them. it was a great movie, but the Illiad was better :D
