Hey all, I will be going to Vegas for the first time in June for vacation and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions of places I shouldn't miss out on while im there, or any tips on the casinos there?

If it is your first time, go see the bellagio water show at night,, it is the best free thing in vegas,, simply beautiful. Palms and Hardrock are where the young crowd hangs out,( translated: Hot Woman and Men ) The ghost room is a great bar at the palms also the bar at Luxor is really happening. Ceasers pool is the best for veiwing..... NY NY roller coaster is great worth doing if you like coasters.

Down town is the place to gamble if you want to win, best odds.
Spearment rhino and Club Paradise are my favorite Brass pole clubs, but there are some new clubs since I have last been out. The steak house at Flamingo,,,,( Beef baron I think) is excellent although a bit pricey. For late night prime rib you can not beat the Imperial Palace for good drunk food, like 4.95 all you can eat and it was tasty.... Course taco Bell tastes good when I am drunk... go figure. NY NY and Bellagio are my favorite places to stay,, The Delli in NY NY is killer!

Anything specific let me know.

Also if you have the cash,, take a helicopter trip around the strip at night,,, if you have a date,, they will love you for it. If money is no object take a Helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon simply amazing trip out, you get to land in the canyon which only a few places allow, A nice lunch followed by the flight back.. My all time favorite thing to do.

If you are going with friends... split the cost of a suite at the Bellagio. That itself is a site. I did that for my 21st a few years back and we had THREE bathrooms. THREE. THREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeee. Our suite was fountain side where we opened the curtains to watch it out our HUMUNGOUS window with the surround sound turned up... umm, yah it was awesome=)

Studio 54 if you like to go clubbin! Dress up for it though or they won't let ya in. The Rio has a GREAT live band that plays in the club there-- lots of 60s/70s songs with Go GO dancers on platforms throughout the dancefloor and mainstream music mixed in. Other than that walk the strip... you'll always find something to do. It's my favorite place on earth thus far!

Have fun=) Happy Bday.

Depends on the fundage really.....

Free or inexpensive stuff:

1. Stratosphere observation deck/thrill rides (roller coaster 1000 ft up is the most tame of the three)
2. NYNY Roaller Coaster....just keep your mouth closed, or where a mouthpiece. It's jerky, but fun.
3. Volcano at The Mirage
4. Fountains and art gallery at Bellagio
5. Sirens of TI at Treasure Island (used to be Pirate Ship battle. Now it's scantily clad silicone enhanced Sirens hanging off said Pirate ship)
6. Egyptian Museum at Luxor
7. Eiffel tower at Paris France
8. Gondola rides at Venitian
9. Huge aquarium in Mandalay Bay
10. Midevil dinner theater at Excalibur

There's more, and I probably left some good ones out, but that's a short list of cheapies.

For $$$$

1. Blue Man Group - Luxor
2. Celine Dion - Ceasars
3. Various acts at MGM depending on when you'll be there (Madonna, Rush, Rod Stewart, Simon and Garfunkel, Phil Collins, Britney Spears to name a few coming soonish).
4. Circue de Soleil in 4-5 versions. All are supposed to be pretty good. Some very sexay!!
5. Various magicians... Penn and Teller, Lance Burton, etc...
6. Various comedy acts... Carrot-top, etc...
7. Excursions such as Red Rock Canyon (can take a guided tour, rent ATV's, or just go sight-seeing), Hoover Dam, Grand canyon (much longer excursion here...like 270 miles to either rim...heh)
8. Cabaret acts at practically every hotel.
9. Night-clubs galore. Studio 54 at MGM, Rain at Mandalay Bay, Ice (not in a hotel), etc..

Anyway..... lasvegas.com is your friend for info. Hope this helps.

Circue de Soleil in 4-5 versions. All are supposed to be pretty good. Some very sexay!! Damn good show the original is at TI and its brilliant.

Also best buffet is at the Rio I love that place.

Midevil dinner theater at Excalibur Neat show but the food is oh so bad, do not eat it unless you have a tomach of Iron.

Was worth it though. By the time I got back the crew already had the girls buying drinks...

thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to print this page out before I leave and make a checklist of stuff to do. Is it easy to get in those clubs? or are they a who you know type of thing? Is there any good deals that aren't advertised much like someone told me to ask for the steak and shrimp at the hard rock cafe for like 5 bucks because its not on the menu.

Oh yea and another thing .. I have never really gambled besides slot machines. Whats some good table games that are fun and not a total rip off. Im sure everygame is designed to get your money but some have better odds or what not.

Ghost club can be hard to get into, lot of Hollywood types etc but if you go early it is usually not a problem.

Luxor usually only has a line to deal with in terms of difficulty.

CY in NY NY, Never had a problem but only have been there 2x.

If you want to try your hand at black jack Golden Nugget is good, but really anywhere that has single or dbl deck games is good . Most of the glamorous places play 5 decks or more. Downtown will have alot more min stake tables as well for 1-5 dollars, real good place to learn as opposed to the 10 dollar min tables. Most strip casinos will have a couple of 5 dollar tables but there a bitch to get to since someone is always sitting. As a rule of thumb, the older, less glitzy the better the odds.
If you want to try Craps, get a free lesson or two first. Fun game easy to win on but tons of ways to lose, bet, get confused etc.
Roulette,,, worst odds out there,, house always wins
My favorite place to plays slots is NY NY, the slot machines near check in have always been loose and the last time we played there Kathy won 5k in 3 seperate Jackpots over a 5 hour period.

Cab fare will kill you so try and plan it so you will stay in the area you are heading to for awhile, You can walk anywhere on the strip and IMO it is worth it to check out all the places. Renting a car is ok but driving is Vegas around down town or the strip can be hell.

Also Vegas is one of the few cities where if you are jaywalking Drivers can pretty much run you down and face no charges I saw two guys get dusted by a cab and I swear to this day the cab driver went two lanes over to hit them I told the police the same thing and they said ," People need to learn to use crosswalks" and walked off.

Also you can join a casino club at any casino, the rates suck but, they will send you free deals or good pricing from time to time, also they will tell you about tournaments and stuff. If you hit a lucky streak like my wife did you can set yourself up for a long time, with free rooms or meals etc it is worth doing and has little hassle.

Is there any good deals Best time to find deals is late night, 3-6 AM, like the Prime Rib at Imperial Palace.
Most places will have something, tip well to your waitress or bartender a few times then ask them they will almost always hook you up if you are taking care of them. Also if you play long enough to get rated, the pitt bosses or the Casino host will set you up if you ask.
People who work in Vegas are usually just doing a job thats boring like most others and the for the most part survive on tips. They see tens of thousands of people a day who tip little to none, so a decent tip here or there will go a long ways with the right people.

My all time favorite vegas card game is War BTW, you know the one we played as kids, you can find it and play it for money the odds are decent till you have a war then they shift to the house big time since you have to dbl your bet to stay in. Still a great game to play for fun. ( I feel like Clark Griswald)

Blackjack has the best odds of winning and beating the house but it is all about how long you play.

Damn now you have me thinking I am going to have to go out in a week or two,, I feel withdrawls setting in.

One more thing and I will shut up, http://www.lasvegas.com/Has a good listing of shows etc and events. Also Every decent Casino will have a webpage and at time like now (off season) will have deals and coupons

One more thing the Tropicana is a giant asshole but the comedy club there is awesome I highly recommend it. More than worth the cover which comes with 2 drinks.

to get into ghost club or those other high celeb type clubs put on some really flashy vest, make yourself look like a vallet or some sort of driver. walk up to the guy at front and say the name of the celeb you are pretty sure is in there. "Hi i parked tom cruis's make up artist's car i need to go in and give her the keys as she requested." (hold a cheap 5 dollar radio shack radio in your hand at the same time to show that you really are some kind of minimum wage work for tip job, a friend can call in on the other end saying, HURRY UP AND GIVE TOM CRUISE HIS KEYS AND GET BACK TO HQ). the ruse should work as you are dressed not for a party. anyway after gaining access go to the rest room but make a detour to the storage room (it shouldnt be locked if it is slide off vest under door and ditch radio behind a toilet stall). and you're in.

Craps has good odds too,a nd you can mimick the bets of someone at the table that knows wtf they are doing. dont play anything where a wheel is spun.

cool, Are the coupons you can get that you hear about all the time on TV worth it? or they just a big scam?

oh .. is it good to carry cash / travelers check / debit card / etc ...?

Diaf

There is an atm every 2 feet in Vegas so cash or debit, keep your wallet in your front pocket in crowds.
